Microsoft BPOS to Provide Core Services

June 2010

Pro/Soft Technologies has committed itself to moving its core communication infrastructure to Microsoft's Business Productivity Online Standard (BPOS) suite. Consisting of Exchange, Sharepoint, LiveMeeting, and Office Communicator, Microsoft's BPOS provides the reliable infrastructure functionality that's required by Pro/Soft Technologies, as well as by its clients.

"We think it's a very cost-effective service that makes sense for many of our customers.", explained Marc Dorval, President of Pro/Soft Technologies. He added, "Before suggesting BPOS to our clients, we had to try it ourselves. We liked it so much, we decided to put our entire organization on the service."

From Marc Dorval's point of view, eliminating the need for an in-house Exchange and Sharepoint server saves costs from a capital and management point of view. In addition, having Microsoft manage their own servers decreases business risk for the BPOS users who would otherwise have to rely on their own (usually non-redundant) servers and IT staff. In addition, migrating from MSN or other public Instant Messaging tools to Office Communicator enhances an organization's security, while using LiveMeeting instead of tools such as GoToMeeting saves costs while providing a better user experience.

As a result of this trial, Pro/Soft is actively recommending BPOS to clients where an outsourced infrastructure makes sense from an operational and financial point of view.
